Is Christmas Pagan?

Leon Miller asks: Hey guys. I have a few questions about the same topic. Is Christmas pagan? And why did modern Christians change the spelling from Christmas to X-mas? And finally, are Christmas trees pagan? Our church teaches against celebrating Christmas, but I'd like to be able to explain this to my kids. They have a hard time accepting this. Thanks in advance!
